Electric Gates, Barriers & Bollards for Glasgow & Lanarkshire Properties

Bespoke gate automation designed, installed and safety-tested by SSAIB registered engineers in Bothwell, covering Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Central Scotland.

An automatic gate is a piece of machinery as much as it is a security feature. Get it wrong and it’s a safety risk as well as an unreliable one: badly specified motors, missing safety devices, and gates that aren’t built to stand up to Scottish weather. We design every installation around the site, whether that’s a business park entrance in Glasgow or a yard gate in Lanarkshire, and around the traffic it needs to handle and the safety devices the law requires.

Our engineers are based in Bothwell. The company is an SSAIB registered installer and holds £5M public liability insurance.

The dangers of DIY: Safety, reliability and wind loading

In the UK, all automatic gates must comply with strict regulations under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008. A gate installed without the correct safety devices and force limits isn’t just non-compliant, it can genuinely injure someone.

Managing safety risks and impact forces

Gates are sized, motored and set up so the closing force stays within safe limits, protecting vehicles, pedestrians and children.

Essential safety devices and compliant design

Photocells, safety edges and force-limiting controllers are specified and fitted as standard, not offered as optional extras.

Long-term reliability and Scottish weather

Wind loading on timber and composite gates is accounted for in the motor selection and fixings, so the gate keeps working through Scottish winters.

Gate and barrier systems for Glasgow and Lanarkshire sites

SystemBest forAdvantages
Swing gates
Underground or articulated-arm motors
Classic residential driveways and properties with the depth to swing a leaf clear. Traditional appearance, wide range of motor options, suits single or double leaf gates.
Sliding gates
Ground track or cantilever
Short or sloped driveways where a swing gate won’t clear, and sites needing extra wind resistance. Doesn’t need swing clearance, cantilever option removes a ground track for level running, more wind-resistant than swing gates.
Commercial barriers and bollards Car parks, yards and sites managing high-frequency vehicle traffic. Fast cycle times for barriers, anti-ram rising bollards for sites needing a physical vehicle-attack deterrent.

Every job follows the same five steps, from site survey to handover and certification. See how we work.

Meeting British Standards and protecting users

Automatic gates are installed in line with the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) guidance, and BS EN 12453 and BS EN 12604, the British Standards covering the safety of power-operated pedestrian and vehicle gates.

Where we work

Gated entrances and barriers are common at business and distribution parks such as Strathclyde Business Park and Righead Industrial Estate in Bellshill, Eurocentral, and Hamilton International Technology Park, all within a short run of Bothwell. We also install and force-test gates for commercial yards and industrial units at Cambuslang and Queenslie on Glasgow’s east side, and for detached properties in Hamilton, East Kilbride and the surrounding Lanarkshire towns.
