Advanced detection, full Scottish compliance and systems you can rely on, for commercial premises and homes across Lanarkshire.
For commercial premises, a fire alarm system is a legal duty, not an optional extra. We design and install conventional and addressable panels to BS 5839-1:2025 for offices, retail units and warehouses across Glasgow and Lanarkshire, so you can demonstrate compliance under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 as the premises’ Responsible Person. For homes, the same engineer-led approach applies to the Scottish Tolerable Standard, correctly specified, properly interlinked and fully certified.
AR Systems Ltd is an SSAIB registered installer with £5M public liability insurance, based in Bothwell and working across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Central Scotland.
When one alarm activates, every alarm in the system sounds, so a fire detected in the kitchen is heard from the bedroom, wherever it starts.
Heat, smoke and optical sensors specified for each room, reducing false alarms from cooking or steam without compromising protection.
Mains-powered (Grade D) systems with a tamper-proof, sealed lithium battery backup, so the system stays live if power is lost.
For shops, offices, guest houses, HMOs and multi-occupancy buildings, we design zoned conventional panels for smaller premises and addressable panels, which pinpoint the exact detector that has activated, for larger or more complex buildings, all specified to BS 5839-1 categories appropriate to the risk (L1–M).
As of February 2022, the law in Scotland changed significantly, placing stricter fire alarm requirements on every homeowner, not just landlords. If your home does not meet the Tolerable Standard, your home insurance may be invalid and you may face difficulties when trying to sell the property. The standard requires:
| System | Best for | Advantages |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic mains-interlinked (Grade D1/D2) | Homes bringing themselves up to the current Scottish Tolerable Standard. | The new standard for all Scottish homes; can integrate carbon monoxide detection alongside smoke and heat alarms. |
| Wireless interlinked systems | Homes where running cable between rooms would mean disruption, such as period or dry-lined properties. | Sealed 10-year lithium battery units, linked by radio frequency, no cabling and no mess. |
| Commercial conventional & addressable panels | Shops, guest houses, HMOs and larger or multi-occupancy commercial buildings. | Zoned coverage for smaller premises; addressable panels give the exact location of the detector that has activated in larger buildings. |
Every job follows the same five steps, from site survey to handover and certification. See how we work.
As part of a wider fire safety package, we also offer emergency lighting and passive fire protection alongside fire alarm installation, so escape routes stay lit and compartmentation is maintained if a fire does occur.
BS 5839-1:2025 recommends that a commercial fire alarm is inspected and serviced by a competent person at intervals of no more than six months. Between visits the building’s responsible person should test a different call point each week and record it in the logbook. We carry out six-monthly servicing under a maintenance contract, including on systems installed by other companies, and issue a servicing certificate after each visit.
We install and service fire alarm panels for offices and retail units in Glasgow city centre, industrial and distribution buildings at Queenslie and Cambuslang, and commercial premises across Hamilton, Motherwell and East Kilbride. Multi-building sites at business parks such as Hillington Park and Eurocentral can be handled under a single service agreement, with one engineer responsible for the whole site regardless of how many panels are on it.
