Electrical installation, minor works and periodic inspection for commercial premises, including the dedicated supplies your fire, security and data systems depend on.
Fire alarm panels, PoE switches for CCTV and access control, and gate motors all need a dependable, correctly protected electrical supply, separate from general power where the regulations require it. We carry out the electrical installation and testing work behind our fire and security systems, and general commercial electrical work in its own right, for premises across Glasgow and Lanarkshire: distribution boards, lighting and small power, and the certificates landlords and businesses need on file.
AR Systems Ltd is an SSAIB registered installer with £5M public liability insurance, based in Bothwell and working across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Central Scotland.
| Certificate | When | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical Installation Certificate EIC |
New installations, rewires or the addition of a new circuit. | Confirms the completed work has been designed, installed, inspected and tested in line with BS 7671 and is safe to energise. |
| Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate MEIWC |
Work that doesn’t include a new circuit, such as adding a socket outlet or light fitting to an existing circuit. | Confirms the specific alteration or addition has been tested and is safe, without re-certifying the whole installation. |
| Electrical Installation Condition Report EICR |
Periodic inspection of an existing installation, for landlords, businesses or on change of occupier. | Records the condition of the fixed wiring against current standards and lists any observations, coded C1 to C3, that need attention. |
Every job follows the same five steps, from site survey to handover and certification. See how we work.
Electrical work is carried out to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 (the IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition) and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
There is no single law that says a Scottish shop or office must have an Electrical Installation Condition Report. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 do require an employer to keep the installation safe, and an EICR is the accepted way to show that it has been checked. IET guidance sets the usual interval by premises type, typically up to five years for offices and shops and more often for higher-risk sites. Private rented homes and HMOs in Scotland are different: an electrical safety inspection is required at least every five years under the Repairing Standard.
We carry out commercial electrical installation, testing and EICR work for offices and retail units in Glasgow city centre, industrial premises at Hillington Park and Queenslie, and commercial buildings across Hamilton, Motherwell and East Kilbride. Distribution board upgrades and periodic testing at multi-unit sites such as Strathclyde Business Park and Eurocentral can be carried out to a rolling schedule, so certification stays current across every building on the site.
